Abstract
Conversation is one ofthe most important tools for personal and social growth that helps effective relationships and promote mutual understanding. An electoraldebate is a planned conversation that plays an important role in shaping public opinion and increasing public participation.This study examines the political debates of two candidates for the 14th presidency of Iran using a critical conversation analysis approach,focusing on tools for repair and preference organization. he data are analyzed through the implementation of debates and Jefferson's transcription system.The findings indicate that the candidates highlighted their political priorities and managed semantic conflicts by frequently using self-repair and critical questions, which led to active audience participation and increased the persuasive power of speech. The study shows that conversation analysis is vital to understanding political processes, strengthening participation, and persuading public opinion. Overall, political debates are an arena for discursive competition that has a significant impact on political participation and public awareness.
