Abstract
Hart's book, titled Ten Lectures on Cognitive Linguistics: Critical Discourse Analysis in Cognitive Linguistics is an essential resource for bridging the gap between critical discourse analysis and cognitive linguistics. The interdisciplinary and multifaceted nature of both critical discourse analysis and cognitive sciences allows these two fields to mutually enrich each other. However, apart from van Dijk's socio-cognitive approach (van Dijk, 2008), few efforts have been made in this direction so far. Hart's book offers a promising direction for interaction and exchange between critical discourse analysis and cognitive linguistics in explaining ideology and power in various topics such as migration and street protests. Additionally, "cognitive grammar," another area within cognitive linguistics, despite not having a precise position in discourse, holds significant potential for critical discourse analysis.
