Abstract

Cognitive linguistics researches are to find conceptual organization of languages. In this field, the concept of “event” is known as the primary basis of language and cognition. But “motion event” is more interesting for cognitive linguists. Different aspects of this event is represented in language and human, based on the experiences of her/his own movement and the motion of surrounding entities, conceptualize and lexicalize motion event. One aspect of motion that is represented in language is how motion takes place. In this paper we are looking for all kinds of manner information that are represented in Farsi. To perform that and based on some criteria we gathered Farsi motion verbs from the list of verbs written in Sokhan big dictionary 1381). Then we studied and classified the kinds of manner information based on the motion verbs semantics.
